New Turf, New Look for Hodges Field

Hodges Field is sporting a new look with the installation of upgraded turf this summer. The state-of-the-art synthetic surface will not only provide a refreshed quality playing field for several Bolles sports teams, but also an eye-catching new look with blue-filled endzones with orange-lettered “Bolles” and alternating shades of green along the yard markings.

Synthetic turf was first installed at Hodges Field in 2006 with a previous upgrade in 2015, thanks to contributions from Kernan and George H. Hodges Jr. ’56 as well labor and equipment provided by Robert B. Baker ’82. With an unprecedented 8.2 million dollar gift from the realized estate of the Hodges in 2026, maintenance of the field and surrounding facilities will endure in perpetuity to ensure premier athletic venues for current and future Bulldogs. The Baker-Gate Petroleum Company Track is also being upgraded with completion expected in the winter.
