Two Bolles Alumnae Preparing for IRONMAN Jacksonville

As Jacksonville prepares to host the city’s first-ever IRONMAN triathlon on May 16, 2026, two Bolles alumnae are looking forward to being involved in the event which includes a 2.4-mile swim in the St. Johns River, a 112-mile bike ride and 26.2-mile run through Downtown Jacksonville.

Skye Bobbitt Johnson '94 and Jenn Kattman Stanton '03 will both be out on the race course, which starts and finishes in Downtown Jacksonville with the bike course coincidentally taking competitors past both the Bolles San Jose and Ponte Vedra Beach Campuses. Johnson will be supporting 33 athletes who train with her North Florida-based Tri with Skye team, while Stanton will be competing in her fifth full distance IRONMAN as a member of the Charlotte-based Fillnow Coaching group.

Stanton’s first competitive triathlon began at Mickler’s Landing in the Ponte Vedra area just prior to her graduating from Bolles. Following graduation from Furman University, she became a classroom teacher and middle school coach for swimming and cross country teams. She led both group and private run training groups before joining the Fillnow Coaching staff in 2017.

As a competitor, Stanton has several overall wins and top-3 age group finishes at local triathlons. She podiumed in her debut IRONMAN 70.3 and has gone on to podium in multiple 70.3 and 70.3 relay events. Stanton has qualified for both the IRONMAN 70.3 and IRONMAN World Championships in Kona, Hawaii. She noted that she is mostly looking forward to biking down memory lane in Jacksonville, past Bolles, out to Mickler's Landing and back on race day.

Johnson has been coaching triathlon athletes since 2011, with much of the swim training taking place on the San Jose Campus. As an athlete, Johnson has completed five full IRONMAN events and most recently finished ANVIL, an extraordinary endurance challenge consisting of a 4.8-mile swim, 224-mile bike and 52.4-mile run, where she placed fifth overall.

Johnson works with athletes of all levels, from first-timers to experienced competitors chasing ambitious goals. Her 33 athletes training for the inaugural IRONMAN Jacksonville reflects the strong presence she has built in the local endurance community. In addition to triathlon coaching, she also hosts open water swim camps that help women develop the skills and confidence needed to perform well in open water.
