Bolles Swimmers Earn 15 Medals at World Short Course Championships
Ryan Murphy and Caeleb Dressel

Bolles alumnus Ryan Murphy ’13 and Bolles Sharks Club member Caeleb Dressel combined for 15 medals at the 2018 World Short Course Swimming Championships, held December 11-16 in Hangzhou, China. Murphy and Dressel helped Team USA lead all nations in the medal count.

Murphy medaled in all three backstroke events, taking gold in the 100-meter back and silver in the 50- and 200-meter back events. Dressel won gold in the 100-meter freestyle and silver in the 50-meter free and 100-meter fly.

Dressel helped Team USA win gold and set world records in the 4x100 free relay, 4x50 free relay, mixed 4x50 medley relay and mixed 4x50 free relay. Murphy and Dressel also won gold on Team USA’s 4x100 medley relay in a championship record time and silver in the 4x50 medley relay. Murphy earned gold in the mixed 4x50 medley relay as ewll, swimming in the prelims of the event.
