Safety Drop-Off Notice

We need help from our middle and upper school parents to make our student drop-off as safe as possible. Please be reminded on the Upper School San Jose Campus that no parents or students should be using the Faculty/Staff lot with the bus loop to drop off a child. Buses are there, ready to roll out and there are no crosswalks in this area, so it is not safe for student drop-off. It is also causing congestion for our faculty and staff who are trying to get to work. We need your cooperation to ensure the safety of our students.  We also appreciate your attention to the following:

On San Jose:  When dropping off and picking up, please move your car as far up towards the flagpole as traffic will permit so that the cars behind you have a space and also to prevent traffic backing up on the road leading to the Whitehurst Campus.

On San Jose and Bartram:  Please drop your student off from the inside lane only.  The outside lane is for passing and exiting.

On San Jose and Bartram:  Students should only exit from the right side of the car directly onto the sidewalk.

As always, safety for your children is our number one priority.  Thank you for your attention to the above requests.

Safety During Bus Drop-off/Pick-up

There are a few important items to review for dropping off and picking up students on the Upper School San Jose Campus. For the safety of all students it is imperative that each Bartram parent who will be dropping off or picking up a student on the San Jose Campus be familiar with the appropriate drop-off and pick-up areas and procedures.

Morning Drop-off for a shuttle to the Bartram Campus (7 a.m. to 8:05 a.m.)

The student drop-off point will be along the two-lane road that runs North-South between the Upper School Schultz Hall building and the large student parking lot next to the baseball field (Labeled “DROP OFF / PICKUP LANE ONLY" on the enclosed map.) The right lane of this road is for waiting on students and the left lane is for cars to egress around the exit road. There is a sidewalk running from the drop-off area to the bus lane.

For student safety and traffic flow during drop-off and pick-up, no middle or upper school parent traffic should proceed straight beyond the turn to the two lane drop off road (Labeled “Student Drop Off and Pick Up Sign” on the map). Only drivers proceeding to the Whitehurst Campus should continue to the river road during these critical times on school days. There is no parent traffic in the parking lot enclosed by the bus loop (Labeled “Faculty/Staff Parking Only” on the map) or through either bus lanes at any time during drop-off or pick-up – see map).

After dropping off a student, all cars should proceed around the outside of parking lot C to exit. There should not be “pass through” traffic cutting through lot C.

Afternoon Pick –Up of Middle School students on the San Jose Campus (2:45 p.m. to 6 p.m.)

Upon arriving on an afternoon shuttle from the Bartram Campus, all students will exit the bus and proceed along the sidewalk on the drop-off side of the bus to the two-lane road that proceeds to the “flag pole” area. Students will not be allowed to cross the bus lane at any time; all pick-ups must occur along the Drop Off / Pickup road. Parents who arrive early to wait for their middle school child should pull forward along the curb to the flag pole area so as to prevent traffic backing up in the road leading to the Whitehurst Campus and the swimming pools. As is the case in the morning, there should be no parent traffic in Faculty Parking Lot or through either bus lanes during drop off or pick up.

As is the case in the morning, all cars should proceed around the outside of parking lot C to exit. There should not be “pass through” traffic cutting through lot C.

Thank you in advance for adhering to these guidelines in helping to keep our students safe during these congested traffic time periods.
