Bolles junior Michael Zhang ’26 was named a semifinalist in the USA Biology Olympiad (USABO) after the first round of competition held February 6. More than 5,000 of the nation’s top Biology students faced off in the first round – including Jaden Taher ’25, Sameera Ghate ’26 and Jay Manohar ’26, who received certificates of merit for their scores.

The USABO is the nation’s most prestigious biology education and testing program for high school students. Zhang is in the top 10 percent of open exam participants who qualified to take the semifinal exam, which consists of multiple-choice, short-answer, multiple true/false and free-response questions. The top 20 semifinalists will attend the USABO National Finals.

Good luck, Michael! #BulldogProud
