Wotiz ’26 and Comar ’27 Recognized by LLS

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s North Florida Region named Team Duval Dogs, comprised of Bolles students Madison Wotiz ’26 and Diya Comar ’27, as the organization’s Student Visionaries of the Year Runners-Up this April.

In just seven weeks, the duo raised $68,000 for the nonprofit, which aims to cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma and improve the quality of life of patients and their families.

Driven by a personal connection to the cause, Comar said she led this fundraiser alongside Wotiz in memory of her grandmother, who passed away from Multiple Myeloma, a type of lymphoma, at a young age.

"She was an activist, physician and mother whose life was cut short due to the lack of awareness, research and resources at the time," Comar said. "It’s bittersweet yet powerful to know that Multiple Myeloma is now treatable, thanks to organizations like LLS. By raising awareness about these diseases that seem to be left behind, I can honor her legacy and ensure that no other family endures what mine did."
