World Languages Honor Societies Welcome New Inductees

The Bolles World Languages Department faculty hosted honor society inductions November 17 in McGehee Auditorium on the Upper School San Jose Campus. Society student presidents and their teachers initiated new students and celebrated their excellence in language studies.

Bolles Upper School Head Moya Marks welcomed the attendees before turning over the floor to Bolles Department of World Languages Chair Adriana Stam for remarks. The following honor societies were represented as they welcomed inductees and/or gave presentations: Arabic, Chinese, Latin and Spanish.

Students showcased their language skills through poetry and dramatic interpretation.

  • Arabic students Charlotte Joseph ’26, Zain Mujtaba ’26 and Noura Ossi ’27 recited Mahmoud Darwish’s “To My Mother.”
  • Chinese students Hollins Mobley ’27 and Olivia Schneider ’27 presented ancient poems by Xin Qiji and Xue Wang.
  • Latin student Harper Nussbaum ’29 delivered a dramatic interpretation of “Rome is Saved by Sacred Geese.”
  • Spanish student Raaya Katugaha ’27 presented Alfonsina Storni’s “Tú Me Quieres Blanca.”

Bolles choral director Dr. Julian Bryson enriched the ceremony with exquisite piano selections, each thoughtfully aligned with the languages being celebrated.
