Upper School Students Travel to France for Cultural Exchange

This summer, Bolles French teachers Danielle Jones and Sara Phillips took six upper school students to Paris and Clermont-Ferrand May 26–June 6 as part of the French/Latin Exchange Program.

The group began the trip with an unexpected layover in Atlanta that turned into an opportunity to visit the BeltLine, an urban project inspired by Paris’ Coulée Verte and Promenade Plantée – sites the students later explored in Paris.

When the students arrived in France, they met with similarly aged migrant students through the SoulFood program, touring Paris together and engaging in meaningful cultural exchange. They also went on a bicycle tour of the City of Light.

The group then traveled to Clermont-Ferrand, where they stayed with host families and attended classes at Fénelon School, fully immersing themselves in French language and daily life. Additional experiences included visiting the Vulcania park, exploring the countryside and traditional cheesemaking, and attending a screening of award-winning short films from Clermont-Ferrand’s international film festival.

Throughout the trip, students deepened their understanding of sustainability, strengthened their language skills and built lasting global connections. #BollesGlobal
