Upper School Students Selected for Global Capstone Showcase

The Global Online Academy has selected the Semester 1 Global Capstone projects of Leila Goll ’26 and Olivia Schneider ’27 to feature in the nonprofit’s Global Capstone Showcase.

Out of more than 1,500 projects submitted this semester, only 64 were selected as exemplary – and both Bolles students earned a place among them. These standout submissions now appear in the 2025-2026 Global Capstone Showcase, alongside other remarkable work from previous semesters.

To highlight her accomplishment, Goll’s teacher, Kevin Hurley, offered insight into the strength of her project, which explored whether collegiate student-athletes receiving NIL compensation should be required to take a personal finance course: "Leila's project focused on an interesting real-world problem, used the course material to discuss solutions and included a primary source with an NIL student-athlete to back up her research. The topic is a fresh and imaginative way to connect the course topics.”

Similarly, Jorge Colunga, Schneider’s teacher, praised her capstone examining how AI can support small businesses: "Olivia’s capstone project represents an outstanding example of creative, analytical and purpose-driven work. She identified a real and relevant challenge faced by small businesses—making informed decisions without advanced technical expertise—and addressed it through a well-designed, AI-powered dashboard solution. Her project reflects a strong understanding of how technology can be used thoughtfully to support efficiency, clarity and better decision-making.”
