Upper School Students Host Lunar New Year Party

By Ava Cheng ’25

On Saturday, January 25, the Bolles upper school Chinese program and Resident Life students hosted the School’s first ever Lunar New Year Celebration on the Upper School San Jose Campus. Many Chinese Club members, boarders and Chinese language students volunteered to set up decorations, perform and run activities.

The event opened with a talent show in Lynch Theater, where audience members enjoyed a variety of impressive cultural acts by our own students and community members. Following the performances, visitors moved to Bolles Hall to enjoy authentic Chinese food and cultural activity stations like calligraphy, karaoke, Chinese papercutting, traditional Chinese games and tea tasting.

The event was a huge success, with over 120 members of the Bolles community attending to celebrate the upcoming holiday. This year’s Lunar New Year will occur on Wednesday, January 29, welcoming the Year of the Snake. #BollesGlobal
