Both Bolles FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) robotics competition teams qualified and participated in the FTC Florida state championship, held in Winter Park, FL at the AdventHealth Fieldhouse March 4-5.
Participants loved the energy of the competition, which gave them a taste of “the best of the best” in Florida. There were 49 teams at the competition which were divided into two divisions. Bolles’ Patent Pending team was in the Lawrence division and finished 19th out of 24 teams with 654 ranking points. They won 2nd place in the Promote Award. Click here to see their video. Bolles’ Static Discharge team was in the Scott division and finished 14th out of 25 teams with 882 ranking points. They were one of four winners of a fun trivia contest about FTC past seasons. Overall, it was a great experience for all Bolles participants, according to team coach and Bolles Chief Technology Officer Paul Sollee ’88 .
Bolles also had two brothers, Akshay Ketty ’24 and Akhil Ketty ’26 compete at the state championship. They have a team named Men In Black Jax that they formed with a long time grade-school friend. This team competed in the Lawrence division and finished 9th with 823 ranking points. They were selected to be in a finalist alliance at the end of the tournament, quite an honor. They also won 3rd place in the Promote Award. Click here to see their video.
Congratulations to all Bolles students who participated in the FTC Florida state championship.
