Track and Field Teams Claim Region Titles

The Bolles girls’ and boys’ track and field teams both placed first in the team standings at the Region 1-2A track and field meet, held May 1 in Panama City. The girls’ team won the region meet for the 10th season in a row.  The boys won for the fifth season in a row. Several athletes from both squads advanced to the state meet by placing in the top two in their respective events. Additional athletes received at-large bids to the state meet as the next eight best marks in each class not automatically qualifying by place.

The Bolles girls won six events. Individual event winners were Leila Bata ’24 in the 800-meter run, Jillian Candelino’23 in the 1600-meter run, Maxine Montoya ’21 in the 3200-meter run, Audrey Wuerffel ’21 in the pole vault and Presley Wolfe ’24 in the triple jump. Bolles also won the 4x800 relay (Catherine Kunz ’21, Bata, Candelino, Hadley Ropp ’22).

Additional individual event state meet qualifiers for the Bolles girls include Caitlyn Boyer ’22 in the javelin throw, Elizabeth Csikai ’23 in the 1600 and 3200-meter runs, Kunz in the 800-meter run, Ella Mickler ’23 in the 3200-meter run, Montoya in the 1600-meter run, Samantha Nelson ’24 in the pole vault, Caylee Padgett ’24 in the javelin, Maddie Popp ’22 in the 3200-meter run, Layne Rivera ’21 in the 1600-meter run and javelin throw, Emily Rohan ’22 in the javelin throw Ropp in the 800-meter run, Elizabeth Smith ’24 in the 100-meter hurdles and pole vault and Wolfe in the pole vault. Bolles also qualified in the 4x100 and 4x400 relays.

The Bolles boys won five events. Individual event winners were Will Brady ’22 in the 800-meter run, Colin Duhnoski ’22 in the 1600-meter run, Matthew McClure ’22 in the 3200-meter run and Carlton Skinner ’21 in the shot put. The Bolles boys also won the 4x800 relay (Brady, Will Camp ’21, Duhnoski, Aidan Ryan ’23).

Additional individual event state meet qualifiers for the Bolles boys include Ryan Anderson ’22 in the javelin throw, Mac Batten ’21 in the shot put and discus throw, Camp in the 1600-meter run, George Duffy ’21 in the shot put and discus throw, Aidin Hasan ’21 in the 3200-meter run, Jack Leake ’22 in the pole vault, Kavon Miller ’23 in the 400-meter run and Matthew Thomas ’23 in the 3200-meter run.
