Swimmers Prepare for International Competitions

Several Bolles swimmers are preparing to represent their respective countries in various international competitions in the coming months. Bolles Swimming has a storied tradition of athletes participating internationally from the Olympics and World Championships to regional multi-national events.

Current students Tristan Dorville ’25, representing St. Lucia, and Riley Miller ’26, representing the U.S. Virgin Islands, are competing in the World Championships held in Doha, Qatar February 11-16. Dorville is scheduled to compete in the men’s 50 free and 50 fly. Miller is scheduled to compete in the women’s 100 free and 100 back. Alumni Andres Dupont Cabrera ’22 is competing in the men's 4x100 free relay for Mexico, Martin Espernberger ’22 (Austria) is competing in the men's 200 fly, Emily MacDonald '21 (Jamaica) is competing in the women's 50 free and 100 free, Rafael Ponce De Leon ’20 (Peru) is swimming the men's 400 free and former Bolles Shark McKenna DeBever (Peru) is swimming the women's 100 free and 200 IM.

Several Bolles swimmers will compete in the CARIFTA (Caribbean Free Trade Association) Championships to be held March 29-April 2 in Nassau, Bahamas. Dorville, Miller, Antoine Destang ’25 (St. Lucia), Liam Carrington ’26 (Trinidad and Tobago), Marleigh Howes ’26 (Bermuda) and Sofia Bonati ’25 (Cayman Islands) have qualified for the meet. Leah Chin ’27 (Jamaica) and Adaiah Smith ’27 (Bahamas) are expected to qualify.

Carrington, Destang and Lucero Mejia Arce ’26 (Guatemala) will compete at the CCCAN (Central American and Caribbean Swimming Federation) Championships in Monterrey, Mexico June 20-23. Additional Bolles swimmers are expected to qualify as well.

At the 2024 Olympics in Paris this summer, Bolles Swimming will likely continue its tradition of being represented at every Olympic Games since 1972.  Espernberger posted an Olympic Qualification Time (OQT) in the men’s 200 fly at the U.S. Open Championships on December 2. Six-time Olympic medalist Ryan Murphy ’13 and seven-time gold medalist Caeleb Dressel (Sharks) are vying to return with Team USA. Hopefully additional swimmers with Bolles ties will qualify as well!
