In a powerful display of empathy and artistic talent, Bolles upper school students recently participated in the Memory Project, a nonprofit initiative that connects student artists with children around the world who have faced significant life challenges.

This spring, Bolles students taking Advanced Painting and Drawing created hand-painted portraits of children living in Malawi, a country ranked among the most financially disadvantaged in the world. The portraits were delivered to the children, many of whom have never left their villages and had never seen themselves represented in any form of art. “The students worked really hard on these portraits,” said Bolles upper school fine arts teacher Lily Kuonen. “I could tell the project had a significant impact on them.”
