Student-Led Ramadan Presentation in PreK a Celebration
prek students

Teachers and parents hosted a Ramadan/Eid party in the Pre-K classroom on the Bolles Lower School Whitehurst Campus this week.

Teachers read Ramadan and Eid books to students, who engaged in an themed crafts while listening to festive Ramadan music afterward. One of the highlights of the occasion was a presentation by a student named Eesa, who presented a speech on fasting and how he and other Muslims train themselves to make good choices throughout the year and Ramadan observance. Following the speech, students engaged in a meaningful community service outreach to celebrate the end of Ramadan. With assistance from teachers and parents, the 19 students made hamburgers and salad, boxed them up, labeled then and sent them off for delivery to the Trinity Rescue Mission in downtown Jacksonville.

The classroom celebration continued with the opportunity to enjoy Henna on their hands, as well as bangles called “chorian” on their wrists. The festivities ended with the distribution of goody bags for all. Eid Mubarak, Bulldogs! For photos from the event, visit our online gallery.
