Spring Break Travels Take Students to Spain and Greece

Bolles upper school students packed their bags and set out on Spring Break adventures this year, traveling to Greece and Spain for immersive academic travel programs that combined cultural exploration with hands-on learning.

Fifteen students participating in our longstanding Spanish Exchange Program with Colegio San Agustin joined Bolles upper school teachers Abby Sander ’09 and Adriana Stam on a 10-day visit to Spain, where they reconnected with their correspondents, stayed with host families and visited Madrid, Toledo and Segovia. The Bulldogs even toured Bernabéu Stadium, the home of professional football club Real Madrid! The Bulldogs hosted their Spanish counterparts in Jacksonville January 8-18.

About 2,300 miles away, 12 students took part in the Odyssey to Greece program, accompanied by Bolles upper school teachers Mary Caroline Berg ’17 and Dawn Roland. The program focused on Greece’s historical and cultural landscape, with students visiting significant historical and archaeological sites connected to ancient Greek civilization, including the Acropolis. Students also developed an appreciation for Greek culture and food, took in views of the stunning Greek coastline and participated in a cooking class in Kefalonia that highlighted local ingredients and traditions.

Special thanks to Bolles upper school academic travel programs coordinator Kristin Hong who organized both international programs! #BollesGlobal
