Scientists Excel at Regional Fair

Bolles science students competed at the 2018-19 Northeast Florida Regional Science and Engineering Fair last month, many earning placement, special recognition and the opportunity to compete at the state level.

In the area of Behavioral and Social Science, Colin Duhnoski ’22 received a first place award and special award from the Johnson & Johnson Corporation. Alex Zorn ’22 received a second place award. In the area of Biochemistry,  Shreyas Chetan ’19 placed third. Avani Bansal ’21 received a third place award for her project in the Chemistry category and received special awards from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Agency, the Office of Environments and Solutions and the Stockholm Junior Water Prize. Bansal is advancing to the State Science and Engineering Fair.

In the category of Computer Science, Yash Gupta ’21 placed third with his project. Sophia Posick ’22 placed second in the engineering category and received a special award from the Johnson & Johnson Corporation. Graham Moore ’22 and Phillip Gillam ’22 placed third in the engineering category.

Several students did well in the category of Environmental Science. Aman Shaik ’22 received a first place award and two special awards from The Johnson & Johnson Corporation and The Society for American Military Engineers. Brenna Hughes ’21 received an Honorable Mention as well as a special award from The Stockholm Junior Water Prize.

In the area of Medicine and Health, Rishi Misra ’20 received an Honorable Mention and a special award from the Society for In Vitro Biology. In the category of Microbiology, Alexander Tun ’19 had first place win and will be heading to the State Science and Engineering Fair with his project.  In the Zoology category,  Zoey Clontz ’22 won a special award, The Dr. Francisco Lorenzo-Luaces Memorial Award.
