Sanchez Fender Center for Innovation Wins AIA Jacksonville Design Award

The Bolles School is proud to announce that Zyscovich, now operating as Stratus, has been honored with a 2025 Design Award of Merit from AIA Jacksonville for the design of the Frank R. Sanchez & Hope and Dana E. Fender Center for Innovation (Sanchez Fender CFI).

This prestigious award recognizes outstanding architectural contributions that elevate planning, design and craftsmanship across Northeast Florida. The Sanchez Fender CFI is the most expansive construction project on the Bolles Upper School San Jose Campus since 1925.

“We’re thrilled that our work with Bolles has been recognized for its excellence and for helping shape an environment where students can thrive,” said Stratus Associate Director Jennifer Liston.

Stratus provided campus planning, visioning, programming and full building design services, including feasibility studies, a capital funding plan and coordination with the School Board and Building Committee. The result is a 47,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art facility dedicated to fostering creativity, collaboration and cutting-edge learning.

The Sanchez Fender CFI houses the Bolles science, math and technology programs, featuring advanced courses in robotics, computer programming, IT, engineering and design. The building includes numerous cutting-edge classrooms and 12 sophisticated specialty labs, including spaces for anatomy, biology and chemistry. This facility is an intellectual incubator for countless young minds, preparing them to serve and change our community as entrepreneurs, scientists, engineers, explorers and creative leaders.

Well done, Stratus – and thank you to our Bolles Advancement and Operations teams as well as the generous donors who brought this project to life! #BollesInnovates
