A piece from Bolles artist Angelina Rodgers ’21, whose works have been on exhibit in the Staman Lobby of Bolles Hall, will be on display for one year at the U.S. Capitol building in Washington D.C.

Rodgers won the congressional art competition award at the Congressional Institute’s nationwide high school visual art competition. The annual spring event recognizes and encourages artistic talent across the nation in each congressional district. Students submit entries to their representative’s office and panels of district artists select the winning entries. Winners are recognized both in their district and at an annual awards ceremony in Washington, D.C.

Rodgers’ winning piece is titled “Lydia,” and is part of her AP Portfolio. Competition organizers recognized Rodgers and her work during a reception at Nease High School. Congressman John Rutherford, who serves in the United States House of Representatives for Florida’s fourth congressional district, was in attendance and offered his personal congratulations.

Since the congressional Artistic Discovery competition began in 1982, more than 650,000 high school students have participated.
