The 2019 National Association for Music Education named Bolles Band President and guitarist Soraya Rafat ’20 to its All-National Modern Band.

The NAfME All-National honor ensembles represent the top performing high school musicians in the country. In addition to being an outstanding musical showcase, the annual program is a comprehensive educational experience for both students and faculty of music.

Rafat  will attend the national ensemble meeting and program in early-November at the NAfME Conference in Orlando. Bolles Band Director Maggie Vance also will attend the weeklong conference.

Rafat began her band studies in middle school as part of the Bartram Campus Middle School Band, where she performed on both French horn and guitar, percussion and bass guitar. Currently, she is a member of the Bolles Symphonic Band and Jazz Ensemble. Rafat also is a regular performer at the Bolles Coffee House.
