PVB Students Reflect on MLK Jr. Wisdom
Students on the Bolles Lower School Ponte Vedra Beach Campus took the morning to reflect the words, wisdom and example of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. on January 15, the civil rights leader’s actual birthday.
Fourth grade library media ambassador representatives shared a visual and oral demonstration of King’s most remembered quotes during the School’s morning flag convocation:
- “Intelligence plus character. That is the goal of education.”
- “Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.”
- “I look to a day when people will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character.”
- “If I cannot do great things, I can do small things in a great way.”
- “Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.”
- “If you can’t fly, then run. If you can’t run, then walk. If you can’t walk, then crawl, but whatever you do, you have to keep moving forward.”
- “Life’s most persistent and urgent question is, ‘what are you doing for others?’”
- “Not everybody can be famous, but everybody can be great because greatness is determined by service.”
The convocation concluded with a video presentation of King’s famous “I Have a Dream” speech.
