Students in Stacey Posick’s Bolles Lower School Ponte Vedra Beach Campus music class enjoyed a special snow day during the first week of 2021. As part of their lessons in music and drama, students learned new skills in pantomime, movement and pretending through “ice skating” and “throwing snowballs.” Posick gave students their own pairs of ice skates, white paper plates on which they could slide around the music room. She also taught them how to move in slow motion and other ways to mimic snow day activities. Like many music teachers around the world, Posick has been inspired to implement different music and drama lessons in lieu of practicing the higher COVID risk activity of singing. While students have been singing outdoors on occasion, inside lessons are more geared toward movement, drama and instrumental instruction.
