As a means of broadening students’ cultural competencies and expanding their global awareness, faculty on the Bolles Lower School Ponte Vedra Beach Campus have engaged students in several memorable projects related to Hispanic Heritage Month.
Librarian Christina Karvounis has been sharing rich literature and leading discussions with classrooms across campus. She also shared a book talk about Hispanic literature during a campus Flag convocation last week. World language students have been exploring Hispanic heritage through a recent research project on famous HispanicAmericans. As part of their technology lessons, Michael Bachman’s students have been putting together a playlist that highlights Hispanic musicians and music.
Teachers also are planning a special Flag convocation next week that will showcase students’ personal experiences with Hispanic culture. The event will include a display table exhibiting anything special or distinctive students bring from home.
