Physics and Robotics Students Compete in Engineering Competition

For the first time, Bolles Physics and Robotics students participated in the Society of American Military Engineering (SAME) Career Day engineering competition, with Rohan Deshmukh ’25, Ava Lankarani ’25 and Aidan Turney ’25 taking first place in an egg drop challenge and 1st Overall for Excellence in Engineering.

Bolles upper school science teacher Devan Skapetis accompanied the Bulldogs to the event, which was held February 21 at the Jacksonville Public Library Conference Center downtown. Participants competed in two hands-on engineering challenges, interacted with local engineers and several Florida universities, heard from speakers and faced off in an engineering trivia challenge.

The trivia challenge allowed students to learn about actual engineering projects through interaction with local engineering firms and government agencies exhibiting at the event. Engineering challenges were judged against a variety of criteria, and awards were given to the winning teams. #BollesInnovates #BulldogProud
