New York City-based professional artist Whitney Oldenburg ’05 stopped by the Bolles Upper School San Jose Campus March 6 to speak with art students in the Class of 1946 Alumni Conference Room. During her visit, students gained insight into Oldenburg’s artistic journey, creative process and what it takes to build a career as a working artist.

Oldenburg earned her bachelor’s degree from Cornell University and an MFA from the Rhode Island School of Design. She has taught at Virginia Commonwealth University and The Cooper Union and exhibited her work in New York City, Richmond, Houston and Ottawa.

Her first major solo museum exhibition, titled “Left Behind,” is now on view at MOCA Jacksonville and will remain on exhibit through April 2026. Learn more about the exhibition and Oldenburg’s work here. #BulldogProud
