Bolles students in upper school Spanish teacher Carrie Ezzell’s level 4 and level 5 Spanish classes welcomed a guest speaker remotely on February 8 in the Chahlavi Center for Global Learning & Engagement.
Vladimir Chumacero, a guide and program director for National Geographic Adventures, used the hour to present his native Bolivia, the history of the Inca civilization, Spanish conquest and colonization, the Quechua and Aymara people and languages, and current events in Bolivia, Peru and more. Ezzell became acquainted with Chumacero when he guided her program in Bolivia as part of her Ottenstroer fellowship.
Students listened, took notes and asked relevant questions. This group will continue their study of the origins of Hispanic culture with an exploration of AfroLatino culture and history later this month.
