Middle Schoolers Shine in Heartfelt Adaptation of “Kick the Can”

Bolles middle school students delivered a captivating performance of The Twilight Zone episode “Kick the Can,” adapted and directed by middle school drama teacher Michael Fritton on the Parker Auditorium stage October 8-9.

The play, originally written by Rod Serling and aired in 1962, follows elderly residents in a retirement home who rediscover youth through a simple childhood game—reminding us that belief and imagination can transcend age.

The production creatively tied the story to the four seasons, echoing themes of renewal, adventure, reflection and rest and illustrating the cycle of life. Student actors brought warmth and charm to the stage, supported by a talented crew and ensemble.
