Middle Schoolers Give Back During the Holidays

Each Bolles Middle School Bartram Campus grade level completed service projects to give back to those in need this holiday season.

Led by middle school English teacher Morgan Teichert, the Grade 8 team adopted 14 families through Family Promise. This local organization provides shelter, meals, housing and job placement support to homeless family members in Jacksonville. Each Advisory group purchased and provided gifts from the families’ wish lists along with wrapping paper and everyday necessities (paper towels, wipes, toiletries, etc.). The eighth graders collected more than 34 gift cards and 110 gifts – including clothes and toys – to help 35 children and 14 adults. On December 16, members of the Bartram Campus community helped load all the gifts into the Family Promise vans for delivery.

Seventh graders collected items and funds to fulfill wish lists for PedsCare patients and their siblings with support from middle school librarian Shelley Schaberg. Items ranged from bicycles, scooters and e-readers to basketball hoops, headphones and robot kits. The Bulldogs also collected more than 100 coloring books and 50+ boxes of crayons, markers and colored pencils as well as an assortment of small toys for the organization’s Sunshine Bags.

Grade 6 partnered with the Sulzbacher Center to brighten the holidays for children in the nonprofit’s after-school program. Middle school science teacher Bitsy Body led the sixth graders in gathering school supplies and educational materials, including pencils, dolls, Legos, slime kits, magnetic letters and more.

Thank you to our middle schoolers for demonstrating their compassion in such impactful ways! #BollesBartram #BulldogsInspiringGoodness
