McClure Honored as Jaguars’ “Veteran of the Game”

The Jacksonville Jaguars recognized longtime former Bolles faculty member Rufus McClure as the “Veteran of the Game” before the team’s last regular-season game against the Tennessee Titans January 4 at EverBank Stadium.

McClure, now 100, was drafted into the U.S. Army during World War II and volunteered as a paratrooper, serving with the 82nd Airborne Division in Europe, including support of the liberation of the Wöbbelin concentration camp. His military honors include the American Theater Service Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with Bronze Service Star, Good Conduct Medal and the World War II Victory Medal.

Not only did McClure courageously serve his country, but he also dedicated 49 years to The Bolles School in various roles ranging from the Chair of the English Department to an Academic Dean. Thank you for your service, Mr. McClure! #BulldogProud
