Joaquin Martinez ’27 returned from Oklahoma City, where he competed in the USA Gymnastics National Championship as a level 9, junior elite gymnast from World Class Gymnastics in Jacksonville, Florida.

There were only 32 boys in his age group that earned the opportunity to compete at the event, and Martinez placed 11th all-around in vault and 21st all-around in the country.

Martinez practices 20+ hours per week in the gym while maintaining high honors during the school year. This competition season, which ran from November 2022-May 2023, took him to Tennessee, St. Petersburg, Dallas, Las Vegas, Savannah, Ft. Meyers and Chicago, in addition to his most recent out-of-state trip.

He placed third all-around in the Florida Men’s State Gymnastics Meet on March 4 and also competed in the Region 8 Regional Championship, where he finished fourth all-around and second in vault, making the Region 8 Elite Team.

Well done, Joaquin! #BulldogProud
