Lower School Robotics Teams Win Bids to Regionals
Bolles lower school students competed in the Panther Prowl FIRST LEGO League Qualifiers at Palatka High School on January 21.
The Council of Intellectual Aliens (CIA), the Grade 5 robotics team from the Lower School Ponte Vedra Beach Campus, walked away from this tournament with the Champion’s Award for the second year in a row and secured a bid to the upcoming regional competition. The team’s coach, Bolles instructional technology specialist Andrew Nation, also won the Coach/Mentor Award, which goes to the coach or mentor whose leadership and guidance are clearly evident and who best exemplifies the FIRST Core Values.
The Future Bolles Innovators (FBI), the Grade 4 robotics team from the Lower School Ponte Vedra Beach Campus, also earned a bid to the regional competition, finished in the top five (out of 18 teams) and won the Robot Performance Award for scoring the most points during the Robot Game competition, with scores of 225, 205 and 180.
