As part of their core values challenge each season, robotics teams are tasked with selecting a service project that will be the central goal of their competition and training. The two robotics teams on both the Bolles Lower School Whitehurst and Ponte Vedra Beach Campuses have selected their charitable focus for the year.

The CIA (Council of Intellectual Aliens) and the FBI (Future Bolles Innovators), the Grade 4 and 5 teams on the Bolles Lower School Ponte Vedra Beach Campus, are going to build “GoBabyGo” cars for Brooks Rehabilitation Pediatrics. The teams have secured two sponsorships to build two cars which also will include a team logo, according to teacher and coach Carolyn Houston.

Teams ‘SUP (Savage Unknown Power) and OOF (Operation of Fun), the two Bolles Lower School Whitehurst Campus robotics teams are working together on two projects, said teacher and coach Beth Zerkowski. The teams want to host a monthly “Recharge your Battery” snack station for the operations workers and delivery drivers on campus. The teams also plan to use their Maker Space skills to make enrichment toys for the animals at the Jacksonville Zoo & Gardens including popcorn-filled water bottles, shredded paper-filled paper rolls, painted boxes and Cheerios strung on palm fronds.
