Lower School Night at the Ballpark

Lower school students and faculty enjoyed a special night on April 5 at Donovan Field on the San Jose Campus for the Bolles varsity baseball team’s game versus Fernandina Beach. Students from the Whitehurst and Ponte Vedra Beach Campuses and their families were invited to the game to enjoy the Bulldogs on the diamond.

Whitehurst Campus PreK teacher Jill Bobbitt threw out the ceremonial first pitch as she was honored for her 41-year career at Bolles that will culminate with her retirement at the end of this school year. Her uncle, Bolles graduate Hugh Powell ’46, joined her on the field. Bobbitt reflected on her time at Bolles by saying she was “privileged to have had the opportunity to teach so many wonderful students and get to know their families.”

Two Whitehurst students sang the National Anthem while another performed “The Star-Spangled Banner” in American Sign Language (ASL). Baseball Head Coach Mike Boswell and the team welcomed the lower school students to join them on to the field during the Anthem.

The night ended in triumph for the Bulldogs with a resounding 12-2 win!
