Lovett ’27 Raises Record Funds for Family Promise

Bolles junior Lachlan Lovett ’27 has once again set a remarkable standard for philanthropy, raising more than $130,000 for Family Promise of Jacksonville during the nonprofit’s annual Cardboard City event November 15. Her efforts helped make this year’s fundraiser the most successful in the organization’s history, with a record-breaking total of $178,502 and more than 300 participants.

Family Promise of Jacksonville Executive Director Beth Mixon said Lovett’s leadership and commitment have been instrumental in the event’s growth. Over the past three years, she has raised more than $250,000 to support Family Promise’s mission of helping families transition from homelessness to stable housing. This year alone, she exceeded her previous fundraising goal by tens of thousands of dollars.

Cardboard City, held behind Lakewood Church on San Jose Boulevard, invites participants to build cardboard structures and experience the challenges faced by unhoused families through activities like the Social Service Maze. The evening concluded with a program recognizing top fundraisers and creative builders.

Lovett also played a key role in expanding Family Promise’s reach among local high schools, encouraging the creation of five student clubs—including one at Bolles—that actively participated in fundraising and building efforts. The Bolles club even recreated one of the School’s iconic towers in cardboard.

“What Lachlan has done is truly extraordinary,” Mixon said. “Even as an adult, it would be exceptional—but as a high schooler and a member of Gen Z, The Bolles School should be very proud.”
