Bolles sophomore Lachlan Lovett ’27 raised $97,000 of the record $135,000 collected through Family Promise of Jacksonville's 2024 Cardboard City fundraiser.
According to Family Promise, which helps homeless families become self-sufficient, Lovett was the most successful fundraiser ever for the annual event, finding donors in a “mix of individuals and corporate sponsors.”
In an interview with The Florida Times-Union, Lovett reflected on the power young people have to make positive change in their communities.
“It’s important to bring people in my generation together so they can see how they can raise money and impact people experiencing homelessness in Jacksonville," Lovett said. "I got involved with Family Promise because we are both passionate about helping people experiencing homelessness to find stability and have a brighter future."
The Cardboard City experience invites the community to spend the night outside at Lakewood Church in cardboard structures that participants build with materials provided. According to organizers, since those who are homeless don’t have a place to come in from the rain or cold, Cardboard City is held regardless of the weather.
Many students in the Bolles Family Promise Club joined Lovett at the Cardboard City overnight experience held November 15-16. Well done, Bulldogs! #BulldogsInspiringGoodness
