July 29 Olympic Update – More Gold for Dressel

Former Bolles Shark club swimmer Caeleb Dressel won his first individual event Olympic gold medal on July 28 in the 100 free, his second gold of the 2020 Games and fourth Olympic gold overall. Dressel clocked an Olympic record in his effort. His latest gold medal is the 14th gold and 24th Olympic medal overall for Bolles-trained swimmers.

A few events prior, Ryan Murphy ’13 finished second in heat 2 of the 200 back semifinals with the third overall time heading into the final on July 29 (9:50 p.m. ET). Dressel swam another Olympic record with the top time in the 100 fly heats on July 29, tying the mark of 2016 gold medalist Joseph Schooling ’14. Santo Condorelli ’13 placed 31st in the 100 fly heats, while Schooling placed 44th.
