Japanese Week Celebrates Food, Culture and Language

The Bolles Japanese Club offered a variety of activities during Japanese Week on the Bolles Upper School San Jose Campus from February 26-March 1, inviting Bulldogs to learn more about and appreciate the country’s food, culture and language.

Students learned how to do basic origami, watched a Studio Ghibli movie, participated in a Kahoot on Japanese culture and made onigiri, or Japanese rice balls. Upper school Japanese teacher Yukari Braren, who sponsors the Japanese Club, hosted all activities in her classroom.

Exchange students from the Keio School in Japan were also on campus for Japanese Week, sharing their perspectives and experiences with their American counterparts. The Keio students arrived in Jacksonville on February 22 and will travel back home on March 5.

Special thanks to Sensei Braren and the Japanese Club for welcoming our friends from Keio and arranging the Japanese Week activities! #BollesGlobal
