students give award

Leaders of the Bolles International Student Union, peers and faculty participated in an engaging roundtable discussion on the war in Ukraine, led by Bolles Director of Alumni Engagement and Annual Giving Julia Kalinski. Kalinski, who grew up in Ukraine and still has many friends and family in the country living through the war with Russia, shared personal stories and perspectives of Ukraine’s situation today.

The discussion was held in the Chahlavi Center for Global learning and Engagement on May 19.

At the close of the discussion, ISU leaders Juan Fernandez-Bussy ’22 and Kaan Orhan '22 presented a check for $400 to Kalinski to apply toward relief efforts in the Ukraine. The students raised funds through a breakfast biscuit sale during the first semester and from Bolles parents who wanted to help the efforts in Ukraine. Students Anaiya Nahar '25, Emerson Smith '25 and Ashkon Shirazi '25 also were in attendance and shared their input.
