Humberston Pursuing Olympic Kayak Berth
Bolles middle and upper school French teacher Nathan Humberston is pursuing an Olympic dream, taking a leave of absence from Bolles this spring semester. Humberston is training full time with the US National Team to pursue a berth in the 2020 Olympics this summer for sprint kayaking. His focus is on the April team trials and Pan American qualifier in May.
Humberston’s competitive sprint kayaking career blossomed from his roots as an ocean lifeguard. He represented Team USA at the Senior World Championships in Hungary in August 2019. Competing in the 500, 1000 and 5000 meter events kayak events, Humberston advanced to the semifinals in the 1000 meter event and placed 26th in the 5000 meter final.
