Aaishwariya Gulani ’14 recently was named Miss India USA 2019-20, winning the title at the 38th annual pageant in Houston in late-January.
“Beauty, brains and vision epitomize Aaishawariya’s profile,” read a recent release from the Indian Festival Committee.
Gulani, co-Valedictorian of the Bolles Class of 2014, earned a bachelor's degree in Economics, Health Care Management and Finance from the University of Pennsylvania in 2018. She currently is in medical school at the University of Central Florida in Orlando.
“(She has) simultaneous artistic achievements like Bharatnatyam Aragetram (the debut on-stage performance of a former student of Indian classical dance) while mentoring and leading her community locally and internationally, focused on eradicating needless blindness from the world," according to the IFC release.
Gulani also received the “Best Talent” and “Beautiful Eyes” awards during the pageant.
Miss India USA is a beauty contest for young women of Indian descent who are residents of the United States. The three-day pageant, established by India Festival Committee in 1980, is the longest-running Indian pageant outside of India. Gulani will proceed to represent the United States in the Miss India Worldwide 2020 pageant, to be held in Mumbai, India in October.
