Grade 2 Play Spotlights Nigerian Folktales
lower school students in lion costume during onstage production

Grade 2 students danced, sang and drummed their way through “Nigerian Folktales,” an original production from Lower School Drama Teacher Daniel Austin that invites the audience to learn important life lessons about patience and wisdom from the African country.

With musical direction from Whitehurst Music Teacher Beth Zerkowski, the students performed traditional Nigerian songs and played an impressive variety of percussion instruments. Costumes included a creatively concocted elephant, lion, hyenas, birds, zebras and more. The set design also featured works the second graders created in Whitehurst Art Teacher Elizabeth Miron’s class.
