Global Scholars Travel to NYC for the Global Entrepreneurship Challenge

Six students in the Bolles Global Scholar Program traveled to New York to participate in the Global Entrepreneurship Challenge (GEC) May 19-21. The GEC, hosted by Scarsdale High School, brings together teams of students from around the world to solve global issues. This year, the teams were tasked with designing a product or service that uses technology to build belonging.

Vichy Chen ’27, Mia Lee-Chong ’28, Lachlan Lovett ’27, Alexi Parekh ’27, Ada Ertekin-Taner ’27 and Tianzi Zhang ’27 created All-Ways, a program designed to help international students adjust to life in the United States. All-Ways includes information on U.S. culture, a pen pal program, an online forum for questions and discussion and an AI Chatbot that is linked to academic research in cultural competency. The team interviewed Bolles residential life students, students visiting on the French Exchange and Bolles international student advisor Jessica Boylan to get their feedback on the program.

Bolles Director of Global Learning and Engagement Allison Chandler and upper school social studies teacher Kimberly Dividu accompanied the Global Scholars. While in New York, the students also visited the United Nations Headquarters to learn details about the UN’s work.
