Girls’ Track & Field Repeats State Title, Boys Place Second

The Bolles girls’ track and field team won a second consecutive state championship and the program’s fifth overall state title at the 2022 Class 2A Championships, held May 12 at the University of Florida. The boys’ team placed as state runner-up for the second time in program history. The state title is the 150th overall in Bolles history and the state runner-up finish is the school’s 97th. The state title is the second for Head Coach Mike Rivera in track and field and fifth overall including boys' cross country.

The Bulldogs earned several event wins and posted numerous impressive performances. Emily Rohan ’22 broke her own school record in winning the javelin with a throw of 135’11”. Isabella Lee ’25, Elizabeth Csikai ’23, Leila Bata ’24 and Jillian Candelino ’23 won the girls’ 4x800-meter relay. Zee Curtis ’24 won the discus throw. Candelino won the 3200-meter run as well. Other scoring efforts for the girls included Presley Wolfe ’24 in the pole vault (2nd), Maggie Stoll ’23 (6th) and Ella Neskora ’23 (7th) in the discus throw, Candelino in the 1600-meter run (2nd), Bata in the 800-meter run (5th) and Janay Moorer ’24 with a school-record tying time of 24.73 in the 200 (6th).

Aidan Ryan ’23 led the boys’ highlights, winning the 1600 and 3200-meter runs and joining Daniel De Monte ’23, Will Brady ’22 and Colin Duhnoski ’22 to win the 4x800-meter relay in a school record time of 7:50.43. Other scorers for the boys included Garrison Butler ’24 in the shot put (3rd), Jonathan Lorbeer ’22 (6th) and Kemani Wilson ’23 (8th) in the long jump, Jeffrey Ashby ’23 in the 110-meter hurdles (3rd), Cormac Kimberly ’23 in the 1600-meter run (8th), Kavon Miller ’23 in the 400-meter dash (4th) and Duhnoski in the 800-meter run (2nd). The Bulldogs also scored in the 4x100-meter relay (Matthew Berry ’23, Lorbeer, Wilson, Miller) with a 4th place finish and 4x400-meter relay (Will Moore ’22, Jack Camp ’25, Duhnoski, Miller) with an 8th place finish. The 4x100-meter relay broke the school record set a week prior at the region meet.
