The National Merit Scholarship Scholarship Corporation named five Bolles seniors Commended Students in its 2021 National Merit Scholarship Program.

Commended Students are recognized for the “exceptional academic promise demonstrated by their outstanding performance on the qualifying test used for program entry,” an announcement letter read.

The 2020-21 Bolles Commended Students are:

Ashmitha Arun ’21

William Camp ’21

Finnigan Murphy ’21

Daniel A. Nesmith ’21

Zekum Wang ’21

The designation is based on students’ performance on the 2019 PSAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test. The National merit Scholarship Corporation identified the 50,000 highest scorers out of the 1.5 million students who took the test. The 16,000 highest performers were designated as National Merit Semifinalists this fall and are advancing in the scholarship competition. The 34,000 remaining high scorers were named Commended Students based on a national selection index score.
