guest artist with laura rippel

The February 13 Art Reception in Gooding Gallery was a vibrant showing of print pieces inspired by Peyton Endowed Resident Guest Artist Princess Rashid. She was at Bolles this month as part of the School’s biannual visiting artist opportunity. Some of Rashid’s pieces also were on exhibit, bringing a distinctive excitement to the gallery walls.

Rashid, a Tampa-based painter and printmaker whose works are in museums and private collections across the United States, UK and Portugal, worked with more than 100 upper school visual arts students on three different printing processes – including low relief 3D prints and monoporints.

Rashid has exhibited in solo and group exhibitions in museums, art centers, galleries and alternative art spaces across the United States including the Pacific Grove Art Center in Pacific Grove, CA, Felix Kulpa Gallery in Santa Cruz, CA, Tempus-Projects in Tampa, FL and the CoRk Art District in Jacksonville, FL.  Rashid’s museum collections include, The Museum of Science and History in Jacksonville, The Spencer Museum of Art in Lawrence, KS and The Lake Eustis Museum of Art in Eustis. Rashid has received many commissions to create paintings that depict various scientific and math disciplines.

Recently, she has been commissioned by the accounting firm of Leich & Teeling CPA, PA in Tampa, FL to create a 40 x 120" painting depicting the evolution of numbers. Her other commission specialties include modern competitive sport-fencing portrait and action paintings and portraits of scientists. Her awards include an Art Ventures Grant and an Independent Life Minority Grant from the Community Foundation of Jacksonville. She has won art prizes  in Florida Watercolor Society (FWS), Tampa Regional Artists (TRA), and Tampa Bay Businesses for Culture & the Arts (TBBCA) competitions. She has also been named The Cultural Council of Greater Jacksonville 32nd Annual Art Awards Cover Artist and a Beaches Fine Art Series Cover Artist.
