Another Bolles robotics team has qualified for regional FIRST LEGO competition. The Future Bolles Innovators (FBI) team from the Bolles Lower School Ponte Vedra Beach Campus did an amazing job at the February 1 qualifying tournament, achieving the Global Innovation award and the Champion’s Award.

“I am so proud of their dedication, hard work and heart,” said team coach and campus science teacher Carolyn Houston. The day of competition included three judging sessions and two call backs, she said. Students have been working on a prototype of a wheelchair that can get people to the beach on their own. The Council of Intelligent Architects (The CIA) robotics team from the Bolles Lower Schol Ponte Vedra Beach Campus competed the prior weekend and received an alternate bid for regionals.

Student teams competed in the robot game, presented innovation projects and participated in challenges that demonstrated their aptitude for the league’s core values: discovery, innovation, impact, inclusion, teamwork and fun.

The robotics team from the Bolles Lower School Whitehurst Campus, under the direction of Beth Zerkowski, qualified for regional competition. The Bolles Middle School Bartram Builders team won the Champions Award when they competed.
