Bolles student John (Ege) Erdal ’31 is exceling in the sport of water polo at the highest levels. Erdal was recently invited to the USA Water Polo National Team Selection Camp in the Olympic Development Program (ODP) development group — an honor extended to elite athletes nationwide. He earned the selection following a standout performance at the ODP National Championships held in Chula Vista, California, March 6-8. At the event, Erdal was also awarded the Nick Johnson Inspiration Award, a distinction given to 18 athletes nationwide recognizing those who exemplify the core values of the Olympic Development Program: dedication, sportsmanship, leadership, integrity and respect for the game and fellow competitors.

In addition to his ODP achievements, Erdal competed in the Junior Olympics in 2024 and 2025, where his team earned first-place and seventh‑place finishes. He is now training with focus and determination as he prepares for the 2026 Junior Olympic Games, taking place in Orange County, California, from July 23-26.
