Eighth Graders Build Bonds, Confidence on Class Trip

The annual Bolles Grade 8 Class Trip brought the Class of 2030 to Black Mountain, North Carolina, from April 28–May 1 for a meaningful experience centered on growth, challenge and connection. The Bulldogs spent four days and three nights at the beautiful YMCA Blue Ridge Assembly, participating in team-building activities and outdoor adventures and celebrating their last year in middle school together

Activities at the YMCA Blue Ridge Assembly, led by trained staff, included an Alpine tower (ropes course), a mountain hike, an ecological simulation game and crafts. The eighth graders also ventured off-site for whitewater rafting on the French Broad River, braving Class II-III rapids under the guidance of French Broad Adventures. During the evenings, students enjoyed a range of activities, including a talent show and square dancing with a live band.

Thank you to all the Bolles faculty and staff who served as chaperones and ensured the safety and success of this Grade 8 adventure: Josh Bauman, Natale Blackwell, Johnna Berardi, Debbie Carney, Jon Ezzell, Alicia Henderson, Madison Lee, Sean Mullings, Josh Pearson, Kerry Phillips ’05, Brynne Plant, Mary Lynn Smith, Michael Stephens, Kelly Stevenson, Lara Tamblyn, Morgan Teichert and Jen Velcio.
