Desai ’27 Launches Shoe Drive for Students in Peru

Inspired by a visit to Peru, Sahana Desai ’27—a Global Scholar Program student—launched the Tambohuaylla Social Project this school year to support students in the remote mountain community of Tambohuaylla.

After learning that many children walk several miles to school each day, often barefoot or in worn-out shoes, Desai set out to make a difference, with a goal of collecting at least 150 pairs of gently used shoes. Thanks to the generosity of the Bolles community, the project exceeded expectations with 162 pairs donated — including 102 sneakers in excellent condition!

“I’m so happy with these results and can’t wait to be able to bring them to the Tambohuaylla School,” Desai shared. “I am so grateful for everyone’s support.”

The shoes will be delivered this summer by Bolles students and faculty participating in the Peru Travel Program, helping ensure safer and more comfortable journeys to school for children in the region. This meaningful effort reflects the power of student-led service and the compassion at the heart of the Bolles community. Well done, Sahana! #BulldogsInspiringGoodness
