College Board Names 141 Bolles Students AP Scholars

The College Board Advanced Placement Program designated 141 current and former Bolles students as AP Scholars for the exceptional achievements they earned on college-level AP Program Exams. This group had an average score of 4.08 on their exams, administered in May 2020. The honors continue a long tradition of academic excellence at The Bolles School, which consistently produces high-performing student results on the annual tests.

The cumulative tally represents results from students who graduated in 2020 and those who are current students in the Bolles Class of 2021.

The College Board's AP Program offers students the opportunity to take challenging college-level courses while still in high school, and to receive college credit, advanced placement, or both, for successful performance on the AP Exams. The College Board recognizes several levels of achievement based on students' performance on AP exams.

The designation of AP Scholars is granted to students who receive scores of 3 of higher on three or more AP exams. Of the 42 Bolles students who received the honor, 24 current students were named with a 4.10 average including Class of 2021 seniors Connor M. Batten, William G. Camp, Alice J. Chen, Shuoyu Chen, Jiani Dong, Davis L. Ellis, Mingyang Gao, Natalie K. Garcia, Jiajun He, Brenna K. Hughes, Matt J. Keller, Ozair R. Khawaja, Catherine K. Kunz, Samantha F. Lesser, Abigail V. Lynch, Jake R. McGraw, Ansen S. Meyer, Maxine Montoya, Finnigan Murphy, Mayank N. Nihalani, Gregory P. Peiris, Kris M. Stam, Samuel R. Tuttle and Chuqiao Zhao. AP Scholars from the Class of 2020 include Bolles alumni students Mishal Asad, Nicholas C. Bengermino, Haley A. Bowmaster, Trisha Chakravarty, Bianti Danaj, Thomas Froats, Caleigh L. Furyk, Grace Ann Hudson, Julia Johansen, Katherine Jordan., Liane Khatib, Rayna Kuthiala, Liem S. Kwiatkowski, Tyler J. Park, Daniel Rodriguez, James P. Schellenberg, Parth Sharma and Maya C. Thomas.

AP Scholars with Honor is a title granted to students who receive an average score of at least 3.25 on all AP exams taken, and scores of 3 or higher on four or more of these exams. Bolles had a total of 23 students in the category this year, including seven current students. This group had an overall average of 4.61. Current students who were named AP Scholars with Honor are Bolles Class of 2021 seniors: Fapianey J. Alexandre, Ashmitha Arun, Maya Gopal, Yash Gupta, Aidin S. Hasan, Dahlia G. Kirov and Satvik Kuravi. AP Scholars with Honor from the Class of 2020 include Bolles alumni students Christopher Commander, Michael Dodd, Amelia R. Emas, Jack Ferguson, Daniel P. Fewell, Elijah Gordon, John N. Kennard, Ashley J. Khoo, Sierra M. Kosowski, Nicholas A. Nist, Justin O'Leary, Avery J. Patterson, Rahaf Y. Salameh, Benjamin T. Wachholz, Anna G. Whelan and Trey A. Zaccour.

AP Scholars with Distinction are students who receive an average score of at least 3.5 on all AP exams taken, and scores of 3 or higher on five or more of these exams. 63 Bolles students were named AP Scholars with Distinction this year. Overall, this group’s average was 4.61. The group includes 12 students from the Bolles Class of 2021 including seniors Adarsh Aratikatla, Avani Bansal, Wenyi Chen, Nihar Ettigi, Ylliah Jin, Lara Morello, Devi Priya Patcha, Telvia Perez, Edward A. Sun, Zekun Wang, Zachary C. Yu and Jessica Zeng. AP Scholars with Distinction from the Class of 2020 include Bolles alumni students Elise N. Anderson, Andrea R. Ashchi, Gabriel A. Bassin, Soraya D. Bata, Katherine R. Beltz, Cole B. Burgess, Charu Chaturvedi, Jack R. Clark, Chloe G. Cochran, Caleb D. Cohill, Alice R. Creed, Leah C. DeGeorge, Luke M. Dunn, Summer A. Elsafty, Gentian M. National AP Scholars are students who have received an average score of at least 4 on all AP exams taken and scores of 4 or higher on eight or more of these exams. This group had an average score of 4.51 on their exams. One current Bolles student attained this level, senior Lara Morello ’21. The 13 members of the class of 2020 are Bolles graduates Gabriel A. Bassin, Soraya D. Bata, Katherine R. Beltz, Charu Chaturvedi, Richa Goel, Yash A. Gulani, Henry Li, Rishi Misra, Tyler J. Popp., Dennis Rao, Anne Ruperto and Kendall A. Woodall.

AP results are cumulative and current students may complete another year of college-level work and possibly earn another AP Scholar Award next year.
